Are you a hard worker? Do you put hard efforts in getting the things done and despite the most sincere attempts you do not get the desired recognition when it is most required. Professionals who work hard are appreciated but when you take a look around you will notice that those hard working professionals are appreciated through words and not material. Why?
Since childhood everyone tells us to work hard in order to be successful but think about it once again from a different angle. You have a small business where three workers work for you. John is very hard workingguy, Shawn doesn’t work so hard and Ronny is not so good at work. What would you do?
You would try to improve the performances of Shawn and Ronny while you wouldn’t pay much attention to John as he already is a hard worker. In this process, Shawn and Ronny would be given some extra incentives or something extra from the routine appreciation and John would be out of this process as he needs no motivation.
What happened here is thatthe person who doesn’t work gets something to work. This person gets something extra to work harder. On the other hand the person already working hard is just praised and maybe he gets to share the work load of the non hard working colleagues.
The hard working person in turn keeps continuing with the hard work and feels satisfied that he is putting his best efforts to keep the company rising but when it comes to promotions, bonus or incentives the company has to look who it wants to take the best output from and hence the hard worker always remains the hard worker.
On the other hand those who got promotions have now to justify the things. Since they were not working that hard they learn to work smart. They keep a note of everything that they do and they put everything in display. Working smart is what they keep learning and they keep reaching the higher positions.
