While on Facebook do not forget that apart from this virtualised world there is a real world where you have to return back. Some people while on Facebook feel free to comment whatever they like and do not think how they behave on this social networking site. Never forget that the basic purpose of such sites was to create a link between the lost contacts and to help maintain the present contacts. Here’s a few not to do on Facebook:
The first and foremost thing is ‘everything is in written’. Whatever has been commented may have its repercussions. As it hasalways been said, ‘Think before you speak’, it may be reiterated in a slightly different way, ‘Think before you write’.
Once you said something was between those who were a part of the conversation but whatever you comment is in the eyes of all those who are friends with you and that person. Even those who are not friends may also see what has been the conversation.
Do not make friends to get long friends list. Watch out while making friends. There are some people that try to disturb thosein your friends list without your permission. Your friend might object on this and you may end up losing your friend in the worst case scenario.
It may sound strange but avoid making friends that work for the same organization that you work for. You never know who passes on your comments to someone authoritative in his own way. It is all about words and how they are conveyed.
Avoid accusing your boss and the organization even if some of your friends provoke you to do the same. If they do it for you simply delete those comments at the earliest and ask them not to do this again. Do not make your boss your friend in the Facebook list.
Do not discuss anything that you consider is secret. Everyone is looking for your activities. Think before you do anything here. Social networking is a tool to improve contacts not to spoil the relations. Use it for your benefit.
