Concentration camps, holy speeches and other modes to get closer to God are everywhere these days. They are effective but not to the extent that the people want. In the stressful environment people are always in search of how to get rid of stress and how to get mental satisfaction. So what is the way to get closer to God? How to enjoy the eternity? How to get that eternal flame burning? Here is a discussion from viewpoint of love and devotion: -
There are many other ways too but what the discussion here is all about to experience thedivine through love and devotion. The Sufis did it and Indian saints and devotional poets (Mirabai, Tulsidas, Surdas and many others in India) followed the same path to reach closer to the Almighty.
Read the characters of gifted saints like Bulleshah, Mirabai, Baba Farid, Sant Eknath, Sant Gyaneshwar etc. What we read enters our subconscious consequently inspiring our behaviour. Try to read about Incarnations i.e. Avatars and religious epics.
Listen and watch more of the spiritual/religious stuff. Sit in the temple/mosque or church and meditate. Share with God your experiences. He listens to them. Tell him how you did and what you could do and what you expected God to do in that particular
Start believing in prayers. Ask God to act whenever you think you are unable to do something. Thank him for your achievements. Listen to devotional music. Don’t do them to show someone. Do them for your own. Concentrate on the conveyed message in the reading, video or music.
Soon you would feel that the emotions are coming up. Your eyes will fill with tears whenever you read the character of God or saints. Do not disclose them to many as it happens that people in the early stages develop a religious ego which is more dangerous than fruitful.
The most important thing that they all had in their minds was their attachment with the God. Every one of us has emotions in different volumes. The only thing we need to do is to use them in such a manner as to achieve the real passion for eternity.
God doesn’t demand anything from us. Neither complaints nor appraises. For those who are devoted to him he is with them. People say that Goddess Kali appeared before Ramakrishna Paramhansa and talked with him like two individuals do.
