Ask Sachin Tendulkar of how much pressure he was in before he scored the 100th century against Bangladesh. Every time Sachin Tendulkar was in a match there was a long discussion amongst the experts on the news channels whether Sachin Tendulkar would be able to hit a century or not. Was this century so important that it surpassed Sachin’s performance over the years or is it the media that exaggerates the things?
The recent Nirmal Baba scam is so popular these days that every news channel has the same issue to discuss about. The news seeker wants to know what thereal news is but the discussions, hot arguments and commercial breaks are not able to inform him what the news really is. Earlier there used to be a single channel that had timings for news broadcast and the summarized news reached the listeners.
The people wanted to know more those days as a result of which dedicated news channels gained popularity. The news channels do a wonderful job no doubt during the live broadcasting of terrorist attacks, international and civil wars etc. This is a jobof courage and an act of heroism but when the news is more than what is desired it feels that the media exaggerates the things.
Sometimes it happens that there is other important news at the same time but due to some other popular news (for example Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev etc.) those news are less broadcasted or given less importance to. On the other hand there are days when no big news is in the air.
News channels have their particular shows that focus on social crimes updates. The crimes are no doubt worth mentioning before the people but they are so mentioned that it appears as a television serial rather than news. News channels have gained so much popularity and have so much time that people also take interest in the exaggeration of news. It is not only the news channels that exaggerate the news but the people also enjoy hence it becomes difficult to conclude whether media is right at the exaggeration of the news.
