Did all the successful people think about goal setting when they were common people? Was it the goal setting that made them successful? To set a goal is the first job to achieve success as we hear but does that really work.
Try to remember when someone said any of these to you,
• Have a goal in your life
• Put your best efforts to achieve your goal
• Have two goals, short term goal and the long term goal
• Never back down from any challenge that you come across when moving towards your goal
• You don’t have
• Success can’t be achieved without proper planning
There might be some other sentences and I am sure many of you have heard at least one of those lines whenever a more experienced or a wiser one was around and your confidence was loose enough to allow them throw their wisdom upon you.
To take advice is not bad, in fact it helps. But the problem is people tell how to set the goal, importance of goal setting, definitions of goal but how many of them do help them in identifying what their goal should be.
Here, begins the real confusion for the younger ones. They get the already identified goals for example the son of a businessmen knows he has
When they get identified goals, it doesn’t mean they really are interested in that goal. But in the absence of their understanding what a goal actually is they believe what the elders/older say is the real goal and they should go that way only.
Identification of goal is the better thing to do rather than just goal setting. Planning for goal is easy but having a goal is not. Henry Ford, Bill Gates and other successful people could succeed because they had defined their goals. Planning comes next and when you have a goal nothing else is required.
Efforts come from within. The only support required is of a good mentor then and the success follows.
In short, choose your goals wisely. Don’t go by what the people say. To choose your goals, discover your area of interest. Once you discover this area, there is nothing more to do as when there is interest every effort comes from the soul.
